About IELTS
There are two variants of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS):
Academic Module: This module is designed for students who wish to pursue higher education, such as degree or diploma courses, in universities or educational institutions.
General Training Module: This module is intended for students seeking admission to secondary schools or individuals taking the test for immigration purposes.
Why IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized assessment that aims to assess the language proficiency of individuals who intend to pursue education or professional opportunities in English-speaking environments. With approximately 2 million test takers annually, IELTS is widely recognized and accepted by over 9,000 organizations, including universities, employers, professional associations, immigration authorities, and various government agencies.
The test has four sections:
The total time for the test is 2 hours 45 minutes.
- Listening- 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
- Speaking- interview, 15 minutes
- Reading- different for Academic and General Training – 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
- Writing- different for Academic and General Training- 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes.
